World debut of Audi cross cabriolet Quattro SUV
Audi hopes to wow show-goers at the LA Auto show with the unveiling of their new Audi Cross Cabriolet Quattro concept car. The concept combines a four-seat cabriolet body with a full length powered soft top with a rugged chassis, incorporating the latest generation Quattro four-wheel drive. The Audi Cross Cabriolet Quattro could form the basis of a future SUV from Audi. It also features the world's cleanest diesel engine - a new longitudinally mounted 3.0 litre V6 with 240bhp. An exhaust after-treatment system uses a special Adblue additive, which reduces nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 90 percent. Performance figures are quoted as 0-62mph in 7.2 seconds, with a top speed of 149mph, yet combined economy is a frugal 38.6mpg. Audi say this is possible thanks to their Adaptive Audi drive select system with "efficiency" mode, which reduces fuel usage by up to 20 percent. Interior technology includes a Bang and Olfsen sound system with internet radio which provides access to radio stations broadcasting online. Tracks can be 'judged' by the user, allowing the system to build up a picture of their preferences and offer individual play lists, whilst displaying CD cover illustrations with track and artist information. The car also houses an intercom system; microphones pick up voices and subtly amplify them via the vehicles audio system, in the event that there is substantial noise in the car.
