BlueMotion, the label that marks out the most economical and efficient cars in the Volkswagen range, will be applied to the Polo.
VW claims the combination of reduced weight, improved aerodynamics, longer gearing and a 1.4 litre three-cylinder diesel engines allows the Polo BlueMotion to return over 72mpg and emit a mere 102g/km of CO2. In fact, with the Polo's 45-litre tank and that ultra-economical fuel consumption, a range of 700 miles can be expected - good enough to drive from Britain to the south coast of France on one tank of diesel.
