Honda Quality Problems

Mon 24 Oct, 2005 15:28

That is probably the most unlikely headline we have written, given Honda's reputation for total quality.

However, Honda has admitted to some quality problems with Chinese made versions of the Jazz, now going on sale in mainland Europe. Apparently, they centre around interior fit and finish. Honda says it is working on the problem at source and all cars are checked thoroughly on arrival in Europe and rectified before they go to the dealers.

Honda's announcement highlights the big problems with China: getting local supplies of components made to First-World standards and then getting the local workers to assemble them to the same standards. If even Honda is finding it hard, one can imagine the problems facing indigenous Chinese companies who want to start exporting cars to the west.
