UK's Best-Selling Convertibles

Wed 6 Jul, 2005 10:48

The best-selling convertibles for secondhand buyers are the MGF and the popular Mazda MX-5, according to a new study released today.

The MX-5 is the world's best selling soft-top, so it's no surprise to see it at the head of the list.

But the demise of MG Rover hasn't dampened enthusiasm for the MGF, which slots in to second place.

The top 20 privately advertised soft-tops carries an eclectic mix of desired drop tops - the Peugeot 306 and the Vauxhall Astra mixing with the Porsche Boxster and the Mercedes SLK.

But while a 306 can be picked up for as little as £2,795, a year old SLK still commands a cool £44,000.

Those looking for something a little more exclusive this summer will have to hunt harder at the moment. The study by Cardata.co.uk only uncovered one Porsche 911 Carrera 2, advertised at £54,950, and a limited edition Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina at £120,000.
